TIP OF THE MONTH
A refresher:
Always advance to the next slide two to three words ahead of the assembly.
For example, if the slide contains the words “All worship is prayer offered to God” then it is best to advance to the next slide as the assembly is reading the word “offered.”
This way there will be no awkward pause between slides.

THE “CONFITEOR” SLIDE: TO SHOW OR NOT TO SHOW
 
Let us take a look at the different options of the Penitential Rite at the beginning of the Mass.
There are three options of the Penitential Rite: Penitential Rite A, B and C.
The weekend PowerPoint always includes the slide with the words to the Penitential Rite A also known as “Confiteor”, that is, “I confess... to Almighty God.”
However, if the priest or deacon chooses to use Penitential Rite C, then the tech minister will not need the “Confiteor” slide.
Here’s a guide on what to expect for each Penitential Rite:
  
If the priest uses:

1. PENITENTIAL RITE A (also known as Confiteor, i.e., “I confess to Almighty God..”)

• What to listen for:        After the priest’s words “let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare to celebrate these sacred mysteries”, the priest or the deacon will begin the words of the Confiteor “ I confess to Almighty God…”
• What to do:   Bring up the Confiteor slide as soon as you hear the words ”I confess…”
• What else:     After the Confiteor, the priest will say “May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins…”. IMMEDIATELY after the priest’s prayer,  the cantor will chant the KYRIE (Lord, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord, have mercy).
• As the cantor begins the chant, show the slide with the KYRIE (Lord, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord, have mercy) , if this is added to the PPT.  

2. PENITENTIAL RITE C :

• for example:      Lord Jesus, you are the…, Lord have mercy.

• What to listen for:        After the priest’s words “let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare to celebrate these sacred mysteries”, the priest or the deacon will begin the words “ Lord Jesus, You are the…., Lord, have mercy.”
• What to do:    Nothing. Instead, skip the “Confiteor” slide and the KYRIE slide.

3. PENITENTIAL RITE B: Have mercy on us, O Lord. For we have sinned against you… is never used in our parish.

The Video equipments inside the black box are now independently powered. This means that the main power switch located on the side of the black box will no longer affect the video equipments. As advised by the installers, the video equipments are plugged in to a separate power strip and are always ON.
Application for Tech ministers:  When it is necessary for you to restart the video system as when troubleshooting, open the rear door of the black box and look for the power strip labeled “Video”, power it OFF, wait for a few seconds, then power it ON. Make sure the laptop is powered OFF before restarting the video system.
