Board of Education
The purpose of the Parish Board of Education is to assist the pastor, as the parish leader, in identifying and articulating the education needs and aspirations of the Christian community; and become the basis for program objectives and policies for the total formal educational program of the parish including schools, catechetical programs and adult education.

The Board of Education is an advisory body which consults with the Pastor in developing policies and addressing the needs in matters of education for the parish. Board members are expected to acquire a special knowledge, study the necessary facts and data, consider various points of view, and strive to reach consensus in shaping the advice to be provided to the Pastor.

The Board of Education consists of ten members: one member is selected from the Pastoral Council, one is selected from the Finance Committee, three are appointed by the Pastor, and the remaining five are selected by the Parish through a discernment process.

Members of our Board of Education are:

  • Mrs. Kitty Amshoff, Pres

  • Mr. Tony Gonzales, VP

Religious Education Vision
The Religious Education vision of St. Mary Magdalene is to provide an opportunity for Christian growth for all ages. Our programs are developed to guide everyone, from pre-schoolers through senior citizens in the growth of their faith commitment. We believe this should include a lifelong, ongoing process for education and development in the Catholic community. The role of adults in our faith community is essential to this process. Religious Education needs to be continued beyond childhood catechesis. The most important aspect of nurturing the faith lives of our young is to strengthen the faith of the parents.

Because it is vitally important that our children see themselves as members of our parish community, we stress that the Religious Education classes are but a part of the Christian life. It is of utmost importance that our children take part in the weekly celebrations of the Eucharistic Liturgy. This should be a prominent concern in the faith of the entire family. CCE Classes should not be a substitute for school age children going to mass with their parents. The parent's attitude toward prompt and regular attendance at CCE is a great influence in the faith development of children.
